My grandma, mom, and uncle were at the opening of the Fulton Mall 50 years ago. They urge me to take as many photos of the pedestrian mall while it still exists.

And, well, that’s a damn good idea.

Flyer I’ve been seeing a lot lately.

This Thursday (2/27/14), #Fresno City Council will decide whether to restore the pedestrian-only mall or to reconstruct it and open it up to cars.

The Fulton Mall opened almost 50 years ago. Fresno was nationally recognized as being ahead of its time for battling urban sprawl. Now, Fresno is seen as a joke; a city with a dilapidated urban core. Whether the city decides to update the mall or to tear it out, something needs to be done.

The City Council meeting will start at 5PM at City Hall in #downtown #Fresno. There will be a “pre-game party” at Peeve’s Pub on the Fulton Mall. Pizza, beer, and t-shirts will be passed out. This will take place around 3PM.

Free historic tours of the Fulton Mall by the Downtown Fresno Partnership.I’m happy to see this back! I stumbled upon a tour, last summer. Although Fresno was sunny and hot, the Fulton Mall is packed with shade-trees and the weather is tolerable. I learned a lot about the historic buildings, the art, and the history of the Fulton Mall. We even took a tour of the Warnors Theatre; one of the most beautiful buildings in Fresno! You’ll find yourself thinking, “What? There’s actually cool stuff in Fresno?”

Something new to look forward to this winter, in Fresno.

There’s going to be an ice rink on the Fulton Mall for a good two months! Nov. 8th-Jan. 13th.

Some evenings will have different theme nights. I’ll post later when I have more details. Eeek! I get more and more excited about this event.
