Chris, Kellie, and I had a meeting with the coordinator of Fresno’s JazzHop, to-day. It looks like Fresno Swing Dance will be dancing the night away at future JazzHops! Ideally, we would like to dance outside of the Tower Theatre or at Revue Cafe.
We’re hoping this will boost the atmosphere of JazzHop and attract potential members of Fresno’s Lindy Hop community. The community, here, is still in its infancy stage and there are a dozen regular dancers.

The ninth annual Fresno Film Festival, presented by Fresno Filmworks at the historic Tower Theatre, will feature seven exclusive programs of short and feature-length movies, including special filmmaker appearances, social gatherings, and Q&A discussions.
Visit Fresno Filmworks’ Web for this weekend’s schedule.
This is like no other event in Fresno. Jefferson Beavers, board member, introduced me to the organization. Thanks to him, my friend and I attended the viewing of Oscar-nominated shorts, back in March. It was an amazing event! And it was my first time at the Tower Theatre. It was an amazing opportunity!
Fresno Filmworks does a great introducing independent films to Fresno. This is something organizers felt was lacking in our culture.
My sister’s and friend’s event, under “poems, poetry and fiction” made Fresno Bee’s 7 Promising Picks for the Rogue Festival!
The Chicano Writers and Artists Association, from Fresno State, will read their pieces at Spectrum Art Gallery. March 1st at 8:45 pm and March 2nd at 2:30 pm and 10 pm. There is a $5 event charge.

This past weekend I attended Good Company Players’ production of To Kill A Mockingbird at the 2nd Space Theater in Fresno, CA. Having never seen the movie or read the entire book I had the fortunate experience of going into the Friday night show pretty much in the dark. I was aware of the nature of Tom Robinson’s trial and the treacherous journey lawyer Atticus Finch would have to go through in order to try to prove Robinson is innocent. However, that was about it. What I found was a very moving piece of theatre being directed finely to the point where every cast member was utilized to their greatest potential in order to bring out the lessons this story has to teach. This production was a phenomenal first time experience for me; I loved every minute of it!
